1 Overview
Like many other Microsoft published video game titles, the multiplayer games and main lobby of Urban Assault were originally supported via MS Zone (also known as MSN Games in modern times; formerly known as MSN Gaming Zone), an online gaming website and platform that was directly operated and maintained by Microsoft in order to provide reliable official multiplayer support and experience for their various video game titles.
2 Information
The Microsoft video game platform MSN Games was originally known as MS Zone or other similar titles, and it was one of the earliest official online platforms for playing Microsoft video game titles. The website had various functionality to easily arrange matches for its supported games. Urban Assault was one of the official Microsoft titles that was available for play on the website, under the 'Action and Strategy' category which also provided helpful tips and strategies.
3 Legacy
The original MS Gaming Zone was shut down during mid-2000s, and since then numerous games had lost online lobby support for multiplayer matches. Although it did not affect native TCP/IP function and the other connection methods. Since then Urban Assault was commonly played on a third party service like Hamachi or GameRanger, which officially supported multiplayer games of both Urban Assault and Urban Assault Trial, but not Metropolis Dawn expansion pack.
