Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, has passed away today (8th of September; 18:30 BST / 17:30 UTC) at the royal residence Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
This post will serve as a tribute of remembrance in memoriam of the Queen Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022).
Since her coronation on 2 June, 1953 to the British throne, she was the longest serving monarch in British history, reigning for almost 70 years. The Queen had to endure the death of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (10 June 1921 – 9 April 2021) in the last year. And just three months before her death, the Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
Operation London Bridge and Operation Unicorn are now in effect. I genuinely wish I was back in South Kensington right now so I could participate in any concurrent events taking place in Westminster at the moment in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II.
